Editor's Note

by Vicki Preston
The Summer season is with us again and though tourist arrivals are down and the season has got off to a pretty slow start, the sheer number and range of activities and events this year is surely testament to the indefatigable spirit of the Greek people. From give-away bazaars to art exhibitions, new fitness activities on land and sea, lessons, courses, fun camps for kids, a spa day for the ladies, races and cultural festivals, the deluge of information coming in from every direction seems to suggest that when times are tough, new ideas, artistic expression and creativity soar!

The proliferation in the use of social media by a significant segment of the local population of our islands in particular is driving a surge in the formation of new community groups organising activities and events and promoting them like never before. There are many advantages to this, of course, but one of the disadvantages is that if you belong to more than a few online groups or have more than a handful of online friends, you are likely to receive the same information multiple times in multiple forms. I do and I did. Multiple. Times. Many. Polles. Fores. 2 many fores. I finally had to switch it all off just to get this issue to press!

So, here, at last, is the result of countless hours of work compiling a record amount of data into one comprehensive What’s On listing. Let me also remind you that you can always access the most up to date version at any time (you don’t even have to be a Facebook user) at www.facebook.com/paroslife. And, if you have a smart phone, this little guy below is the ‘QR Code’ for that page. Just download QRReader to your phone and scan this code and you will have a link straight to all the What's On information for Paros & Naxos.

Happy Holidays or Kales Doulies (depending on your perspective) !
