Carnival "Kefi"

The traditional annual carnival (Apokries) was celebrated all over the island during the period leading up to the start of Lent on Clean Monday, March 6th.

Two examples of festivities where a lot of effort went into organizing some elaborate and impressive costumes were The Nautical Club of Paros’s (NOP) carnival party at the Maskes Live club in Paroikia on Saturday, February 18th (left). Fanis Katapodis was the lucky lottery winner with the prize of a 4.5m boat and NOP would like to thank D. Haniotis, Argoudelis Transport, Piraeus Bank and Magnet Electric-Manolis Deiktas for their support.

And in Naoussa (below) on the last weekend of the carnival period, thirty members of the Folkdance Group (XON) participated in the village festival with a comic theme of bird flu and much “kefi” (good spirits).
