A Foreigner is Born!

Welcome to “The Foreigner” - the newsletter for the foreign population of Paros.

We believe that the time is right to launch this monthly publication as a means of communication for the increasing number of people choosing to make their home on this most beautiful island.

As well as information and classified advertisements, we aim to bring you items of interest such as features on forthcoming festivals, events, local history, astronomy, sport, recipes, local celebrity profiles etc. However, more importantly, we want your participation, as this is your newsletter and if it is to succeed WE NEED YOU!!

Those that have been here for some time will have already learned many valuable lessons about such things as buying land and building a house etc. Perhaps you have made friends with members of the older Greek community who like to pass on anecdotes about the way Paros used to be. Basically, anything you think would be of interest and would like to share, please, please, let us know. If you have an announcement you would like to make about a forthcoming get-together, meeting or new venture we would be pleased to provide this service free of charge. We hope to also support the local cultural organisations who will now have a means of directly reaching the foreign population on the island for the first time.

This month, we are fortunate to bring you features from our correspondent based at the Ionian Bank and also from an English-speaking lawyer. They have very kindly consented to give their time and effort to write for us in the future, on a question and answer basis, so if you have a specific question in the areas of banking or law that you believe would be of general interest to everyone - again - please get in touch.

This newsletter is financed by local businesses, so please give them your support, and, if you visit or contact one of our advertisers, mention “The Foreigner”.

You can contact us by writing to Post Office Box Number 112 or telephoning Karen on 43022 between the hours of 4.00 and 6.00p.m. Fax on 42092 or email: chrysali@otenet.gr.
