On September 4th at 9.00pm, the Elysium String Quartet will be in concert at the Convention Centre of the Porto Paros Hotel (tel. 52010), where they will perform works of Mozart, Schubert, Wagner and Barber, accompanied by the world famous clarinet soloists Stanley and Naomi Drucker. They are performing in Paros in between appearances at the Mykonos Music Festival. The Quartet made its New York Carnegie Hall debut in 1997 and its European debut at the extremely successful 1998 Mykonos International Music Festival of which their conductor, Peter Tiboris, is founder and artistic director. Peter Tiboris, a second generation Greek-American, is a native of Sheboygan, Wisconsin. In recent years he has nurtured close ties with his ancestral homeland and with Greek artists of the Diaspora. He created the Manhattan Philharmonic Orchestra, the Metropolitan Chorale and the Elysium String Quartet.
The members of the Quartet are Jennifer Tiboris (violin), Gary Levinson (violin), Veronica Salas (viola) and Lutz Rath (cello). Their tour takes them to the islands of Mykonos, Santorini and Andros as well as Patras and four venues in Athens.
