Over the past few months we have introduced a number of new ways to keep you up to date with news and events between printed issues. And over the summer, we're running a competition to win two free places at Taoâs Center workshops.
On 30 May, we had the pleasure to meet Br. Shubamrita Chaitanya during a heart-warming evening at the Taoâs Center. Many people gathered to listen to his talk âHappiness is a Decisionâ, and take part in the concert and guided meditation that followed.

In 2002 four members of the Media dellâ Arte Creative Team began a remarkable project â the creation of the Cyclades Oral Archive comprising hundreds of hours of interviews with local people talking about their lives. The interviews record some dark pages of the islanders' history â the years of occupation, immigration, their music and feasts, love affairs, wars, economic crises, social uprising and crimes that shocked their small communities.
The Axia International Festival takes place every summer on Naxos and proposes a wonderful journey full of music, art and special environmental activities. The history of the village of Kinidaros on Naxos is interwoven with dance and music. âThe children in Kinidaros first learn to dance and afterwards to walk,â the saying goes. This yearâs celebration: âDancing Days in Kinidaros Naxosâ will take place on 29-30 July.
2011 marks the start of the second decade of the Naxos Festival. We have come of age, an opportunity to look forward once again but also to look back, reflecting on what has characterised our choices up to now and what direction we will take in the future. Our criteria have always been to seek the essential, the authentic, but, at the same time, the aesthetic.

The three-day Natural Building Workshop at the Tao's Center in June was a great success and the results are here for you to see. I don't know if the photographs show how much fun we had building this wall made of stone, mud, sand, straw and a bit of goat hair, but we certainly enjoyed it. And although it looks like a wall, it is actually a bridge.
